Experience Australia's regions more thoughtfully.

Through a hosted escape, a tailored itinerary, or a single recommendation that turns into a memorable day.

A person with dark hair, wearing a white jacket and blue jeans, stands in front of a black door with a glass panel, outside a restaurant or café. The building has white brick walls, with two large potted plants on either side of the door. There are two signs on the wall to the right of the door, and a hanging lantern above the entrance. The area is decorated with string lights and there are two large decorative flower pots with plants and flowers in the foreground.

Road & Table was born from a lifelong love of the open road, regional Australia, and eating and drinking well.

For more than 30 years, since I first drove the 1400km from Adelaide to Sydney solo at the age of 18, I’ve spent countless hours exploring Australia by car. I typically clock upwards of 25,000 kilometres a year and head off on regional road trips at least monthly.

I’ve travelled extensively across every Australian state and territory, with particularly deep knowledge of the south-east corner. This is because I grew up in South Australia (which means I saw a lot of Victoria) and have lived in NSW for three decades, traversing NSW, Victoria and SA multiple times per year to see family and friends.

A lifelong foodie with a wine science degree, I celebrated finishing Year 12 high school with a hatted restaurant dinner with my best friend - whilst the other kids were throwing boozy parties. I’ve visited hundreds, if not thousands, of regional Australia’s bakeries, pubs, cellar doors (I stopped counting cellar doors at 400, 15+ years ago), restaurants and bars. In the process I’ve built an unusually rich, first-hand understanding of the places, producers and local gems that make regional Australia so rewarding to explore. I am as interested in the bakery, pub and the winery as I am in the sights along the road that gets you there.

In 2020, I extended my passion into leading day hikes and weekend hiking trips involving food and wine for Facebook hiking groups, adding another layer to my knowledge of how to bring landscapes, local food and memorable experiences together into a well-crafted journey.

I’ve also always loved the art of travel planning. Even for a short break, I build detailed itineraries. Because for me, planning is more than part of the pleasure of travel. For years, I’ve been the go-to person for family and friends wanting advice on where to eat, what to drink, what to see, and where to stop along the way.

Through Road & Table, I can now share that expertise and passion more broadly; helping you discover the joy of travelling well around Australia - and relishing the journey whilst you do it.

Testimonials

“I have been fortunate to have joined several hosted weekends and extended weekends with Norrelle.

Norrelle offers a welcoming vibe and has everyone laughing and chatting in no time. I have particularly enjoyed knowing that I can turn up to join people I have not travelled with before, and know I will be immersed in a fun warm camaraderie. I have been able to spend time in areas that I may or may not have been to before, and even though I could go to them by myself, the experience is heightened by the fact that there are planned activities and events I can enjoy with likeminded people. Memories made and friendships formed continue well after the trip is over.

Thanks Norrelle, and I look forward to coming along on more adventures!”

“I joined Norrelle’s trip to Mudgee which was the perfect balance of gentle hikes to experience the local area and eating at beautiful cosy restaurants.

Norrelle knows her travel and curates trips that make you feel welcome, indulged and still well exercised.

Really appreciate her knowledge and the detailed itineraries that she creates so we know what’s next.

There was plenty of opportunity to connect with other women who I hadn’t yet met or had a longer conversation with.

I also joined Norrelle on a trip to Port Stephens to do the Tomaree hike. Beautiful coastline, great conversation and eating out.

Highly recommend Norrelle’s curated adventures to get you out of your day-to-day and open your eyes to what’s out there in our regions. She is well travelled, a generous guide and knows how to create wonderful adventures.”

Eve I, Beecroft, NSW

“I was drawn to the idea of a weekend away in Bright because it offered the chance to explore a new region, do things I love, and spend time with like-minded people.

Norrelle brings a wealth of knowledge, funny anecdotes and a thoughtfully planned itinerary, with options ranging from being active and immersed in nature to enjoying a well-deserved drink and good food.

I was so glad I said yes to the weekend. It was a fantastic time full of laughter, good conversations and stunning views, and I didn’t have to worry about whether there would be enough to do because Norrelle had it all covered.

I’d recommend these escapes to anyone who enjoys being outdoors and wants a break that feels both easy and special.”

“Norrelle absolutely nails it every time.

As soon as I see one of her itineraries, I'm in. They are exceptionally well planned and thoughtfully curated, with plenty of options to suit different interests and fitness levels, from challenging walking trails to gentle strolls through beautiful gardens and picturesque countryside.

Her attention to detail takes all the stress out of planning and allows you to simply relax and enjoy the journey. Whether it's a weekend getaway or a longer adventure, Norrelle's trips are consistently enjoyable, memorable and beautifully curated.

I would highly recommend travelling with Norrelle and look forward to many more adventures with her in the future. 5 stars!”
