Trail & Table is the hosted escape arm of Road & Table. It brings together scenic walks, regional food and wine, and relaxed hosted weekends in interesting Australian destinations.

They are hosted walking and food-focused escapes rather than all-inclusive guided tours. The emphasis is on good trails, good tables and a well-curated regional experience.

Yes. Trail & Table escapes are generally self-drive. You arrange your own transport to and around the region unless otherwise stated on the specific escape page.

No. Accommodation is generally not included. Road & Table may suggest suitable accommodation options or areas to stay, but you book and pay for your own accommodation.

This depends on the individual escape. Each escape page will clearly state what is included and what you arrange separately. In most cases, some shared food or wine experiences may be included, while other meals remain at your own cost.

Trail & Table escapes are designed to be active but comfortable. You should be able to walk up to 10 kilometres / 3 hrs on uneven surfaces for any given walk, and to manage moderate gradients. Each escape page will include an indication of distance, difficulty and terrain.

You don’t need to be a serious hiker, but you should enjoy walking and be comfortable outdoors. Trail & Table is not designed as a technical hiking product.

Comfortable walking/hiking shoes/sneakers or boots, weather-appropriate clothing, water, sun protection and any personal medication are essential. A more detailed packing note will be provided before each escape.

Trail & Table Hosted Escapes are designed with flexibility in mind.

If weather, trail closures, safety concerns or local conditions affect the planned walks, we may adjust the itinerary. This could include changing the order of activities, selecting a different trail, shortening a walk, substituting a scenic stop, or replacing a walk with another suitable local experience. The aim is always to preserve the spirit of the escape while making sensible decisions on the ground.

Yes. Solo travelers are welcome. Trail & Table escapes are designed to be small, social and relaxed.

To book, complete the enquiry or booking form on the relevant escape page. We’ll confirm availability, answer any key questions, and send you the booking details. Your place is confirmed once your booking form has been completed and your deposit has been received.

If an escape is already full, you may be able to join the waitlist.

Yes. Private escapes are available for groups of friends, families, social clubs or corporate teams, subject to destination, timing and group size.

Not really. Most public Trail & Table escapes are designed for adults. Private group options may be more flexible, depending on the destination and walking program.

No. You do not need to pay in full at the time of booking.

A deposit is required to secure your place, with the balance due closer to the escape date. This allows you to confirm your spot while giving you time to finalise your own accommodation and travel arrangements.

The balance is due 30 days before departure, unless otherwise stated on the individual escape page.

We’ll send a reminder before the final payment date. If your balance is not received by the due date, your place may be released to someone on the waitlist.

Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive practical preparation notes, accommodation guidance and key arrival/departure information.

The full trip notes, including exact timings, meeting points, detailed trail information and venue booking details, are provided to fully paid guests closer to departure.

This is usually sent around 10–14 days before the escape, once final details have been confirmed.

Before booking, the public listing gives you the destination, dates, walking level, food and wine style, inclusions, exclusions, accommodation guidance and general logistics.

Yes. Trail & Table Hosted Escapes are generally self-drive and self-accommodation.

This helps keep the experience flexible and allows guests to choose accommodation that suits their budget, style and travel preferences.

Once your place is confirmed, we’ll provide guidance on the best town or area to stay in, along with suggested accommodation options where appropriate. You are responsible for booking and paying for your own accommodation unless the individual escape page clearly states otherwise.

The final trip notes will then provide the exact meeting point and daily timings closer to departure.

Each Trail & Table escape is carefully curated and hosted, not a generic itinerary. The detailed itinerary is part of the paid experience, and it also needs to remain current, accurate and flexible enough to account for weather, venue availability, track conditions and group needs.

The public escape page gives you enough information to understand the destination, style, walking level, food and wine focus, inclusions, exclusions and general flow of the weekend. The detailed trip notes are part of the paid experience and are reserved for confirmed guests.

If you book within 30 days of departure, full payment is required at the time of booking. Final trip notes are still provided closer to departure or, where timing requires it, after your booking is fully confirmed.

We understand that plans can change.

If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing as soon as possible. Cancellation terms will be outlined before you book and may vary slightly by escape, depending on timing, committed costs and supplier arrangements.

In many cases, yes. Provided you let us know in advance, and the replacement guest is suitable for the escape.

The new guest will need to complete the required booking information, including dietary, mobility, emergency contact and terms acceptance details. Transfers may not be possible very close to departure, particularly where venue bookings, group arrangements or safety considerations are already finalised.

Most Trail & Table Hosted Escapes require a minimum number of guests to proceed (i.e. at least 6 people).

If minimum numbers are not reached, we may either:

• Confirm the escape with a smaller group, where practical;

• Offer you the option to transfer to another date or escape; or

• Cancel the escape and refund payments made to Road & Table for that escape.

We’ll let confirmed guests know by the relevant confirmation date, which is usually no later than the final payment date.

Road & Table is not responsible for costs you arrange independently, such as accommodation or transport, so we recommend booking flexible accommodation where possible.

Australia By is a collection of downloadable Road & Table guides built around a particular lens: bakeries, pubs or cellar doors, with broader regional recommendations wrapped around the hero stop.

The initial collections include Australia By Bakery, Australia By Pub and Australia By Cellar Door, with selected Road & Table regional guides also planned for popular regions.

Not exactly. They are curated destination guides with a strong point of view. Most include a hero venue, nearby food and drink recommendations, things to see and do, and a suggested way to shape a short trip.

Tourism websites tend to list a wide range of options. Road & Table guides are more selective. They are designed to help you make better choices faster, with a clearer sense of what is genuinely worth building a trip around.

Guide pricing will be shown on each guide page. As a general indicator, individual downloadable guides are expected to start from around $14.95.

Guides are delivered as downloadable digital files. Once purchased, you can save the guide to your device and refer to it while planning or travelling.

Yes. The guides are designed to be useful both digitally and in printed form.

Ideally not. Guides are for personal use by the purchaser. Please don’t forward, reproduce or commercially share them.

Road & Table aims to keep guides current, but venues, opening hours, menus and ownership can change. Always check key details directly before travelling, especially for restaurants, cellar doors and seasonal attractions.

Opening hours can change, particularly in regional areas. Guides will usually include enough surrounding recommendations to help you adapt, but it is always worth confirming opening days and booking requirements before you go.

Each escape page will include booking or enquiry instructions. Some escapes may open for direct booking, while others may begin with an enquiry process depending on group size and format.

You can submit an itinerary enquiry with your destination, dates, travel style, interests and any must-dos. Road & Table will then confirm the recommended itinerary type, fee and next steps.

Pricing details will be shown clearly on each product or service page, including whether GST applies.

Refund and cancellation terms will vary by product type. Downloadable digital guides are generally not refundable once accessed. Hosted escape and itinerary terms will be set out before purchase or booking.

Travel insurance is recommended for hosted escapes and multi-day trips. You are responsible for your own insurance, medical needs, transport, accommodation and personal belongings.

Road & Table can provide practical information where possible, but not all walks, venues or regional locations will be suitable for all access needs. Please raise any accessibility requirements before booking a hosted escape or purchasing a tailored itinerary.
